US Universities at Alaska Invitation Now Available 



It is with great pleasure that we invite you all to attend the 2015 US Universities Debating Championship, hosted by the University of Alaska Anchorage on April 11th, 12th and 13th. Registration for the competition will open on January 12th and close February 28th with a preliminary institution cap of 4 teams per institution. Registration will be $120 per team, $60 per judge and we ask that each institution plan to bring N-2 judges. International teams are welcome to attend and we will recognize both a U.S. Champion and Top International Team.

The championship will feature 8 preliminary rounds of competition held at the University of Alaska Anchorage campus on Saturday, April 11th and Sunday, April 12th. Elimination rounds beginning with a break to Octafinals will be held at the lovely Captain Cook Hotel on Monday April 13th. The final round and awards ceremony, open to the public, will be held on campus. Hotel rooms can now be reserved at the low rate of $99 per night for quad occupancy rooms at The Captain Cook Hotel through our website’s hospitality page or under the group name USUDC2015. In addition to a formal banquet party to celebrate break night on Saturday we plan to offer a variety of fun socials throughout the weekend, including optional excursions on Friday, April 10th for early-arrivers who might like to get out and see some of Alaska’s amazing sights. 

Our CA team will be led by co-CA’s Kate Falkenstein and Meagan Towles. Applications for DCA positions are now available on our website and all are encouraged to apply. Information on applications for Independent Adjudicators will be coming soon. Tabulation will be staffed by Steve Llano and Will Reilley.

Kuala Lumpur Open Challenge 2014 - Pre Malaysia WUDC Tournament

We would like to increase the participation of international teams at our tournament this year by reaching out to as many continents as possible. American Teams Debate Policy with Iran in front of Foreign Policy Experts

The teams will debate whether or not the United States should use military force against Iran if nuclear diplomacy fails. The debate will be followed by comments from Dr. Colin Kahl , senior fellow and director of the Middle East Security Program at CNAS, and a moderated Q&A with the debate teams.
