Heart of Europe 2015 Registration

Dear WSDC community,

As I promised, here are the detailed information about our event. I would hereby like to officially invite you to the next installment of the Heart of Europe International Debating Tournament, which will take place between the 13th-18th July of 2016 in Olomouc, Czech Republic, right before the WSDC 2016 in Stuttgart in neighbouring Germany.

As such, we believe it to be a unique opportunity especially for those of you who intend to go to WSDC 2016, to continue high level training right until the world championship, and we are even going to arrange a direct transport from Olomouc to Stuttgart via private bus for your greater convenience.

Many of you are probably familiar with our event, but for those of you who have not yet been there, what you should know is that it is an open tournament for high schoolers in English language in the world style format. There is no national cap limiting the number of teams from each country and the total team cap is 60. The venue is the modern building of Faculty of Science of local Palacky University in Olomouc.

Registration fees are 200 Euros per debater, 150 Euros per Judge, and 260 Euros per observer. For more information on payment options visit Participants section of our website.

As for what is specifically new and interesting this year, for the first time ever participants are expected to come from six different continents. Unfortunately, we are still waiting for a high school to be built in Antarctica. Expected participants from the WSDC community include for example national teams from United States, Denmark, Argentina, or Botswana.

The Chief Adjudicator Panel reflects it with increased diversity, with the main Chief Adjudicator of the event being Itumeleng Kenneth Mohanoe from South Africa, joined in the panel by Simona Anca Mazilu from Romania, Frankie Cena from Canada, Delfina Vildosola from Argentina, and Laura Krawzcyk from Poland, some of whom you probably know very well from the many years of their involvement with the WSDC community.

If you wish to be a part of our tournament, simply fill out the form at the registration site. The registration is currently open and will remain so either until the team cap of 60 is reached, or until the 31st of May 2016.

First Italian National Debate Tournament to be held in September in Padua

The Association for the Promotion and Culture of Debate, A.C.P.D. “Palestra di Botta e Risposta” and the University of Padua are proud to announce the first Italian National Debate Tournament.
