DQ - WSDC Format Workshop in London 4-5 October

 Dear All,

We are delighted to announce the start of DQ, a new coaching initiative that is serious about top-quality World Schools coaching. This programme is designed to actively target student debaters of all ability levels, and from a wide range of schools in Years 9-13. We are a team of four very experienced and successful debate coaches who are keen to make more students comfortable and competitive when debating in the World Schools format - particularly given this is the format which is used to select the England National Team, sent to the World Schools Debating Championships every year.

We are initially running a full non-residential weekend of coaching and debating hosted at Dulwich College on October 4 and 5. The weekend is intensive and debaters who wish to really develop their understanding of the World Schools format will thrive during it. It goes without saying, that these skills are extremely transferable to BP debating as well.

We believe a number of aspects of our programme are unique:

  1. With coach ratios of just 6 students to 1 coach, we can guarantee intensive attention from one of the four of us at all times.
  2. The programme will include information lectures and preparation sheets on a range of key WSDC topics.
  3. Many of our sessions will deal with areas that students find particularly difficult - such as how to debate on topics they have limited knowledge on.
  4. Our style sessions will move beyond the standard advice of telling you to slow down, and work on a whole range of different techniques to build a World Schools style without losing that winning edge
  5. We will be helping them construct post-event action plans and making their feedback, as well as videos of their performances, available online for them to keep working on.
  6. The second day of the programme will feature a full WSDC tournament, integrated with information lectures on many of the topics, and extra time for personal feedback.
If you're interested in finding out more about the programme please take a look at our website www.DebateQ.com where you can find further details and how to register. The first phase of registration closes on Monday 21 July, so we do encourage you to share this with your debaters you think may be keen.

Kind regards,
The DQ Team
